Favorite Things 2018
A lot of brands make their way to our inbox, across our desks, and into our hands here at the Fort Worth Moms Blog (FWMB). We are always on the hunt for products and services that make mom-life easier or champion the role of motherhood. It’s fair to say that some we love, some are “eh,” and some are “no, thank you.” However, we do have our FAVORITES, which we rave about amongst the staff on a regular basis.

So, here you have it: Our real-deal, truth-be-told, for-sure favorites from 2018. These brands listed below have absolutely not sponsored this blog post. This collection of brands is as organic as can be. These are our honest favorites we now use in our homes, for our families, and share with our friends (like YOU).

Oh, and did we mention that we are over-the-moon thrilled to host a GIVEAWAY featuring many of these brands???? The prize package includes:

One FWMB reader will win this entire prize package!!! The entry form is at the end of this post, complete with all the details and deadlines.

Without further ado, here is the FWMB’s top 15 favorite brands and products for 2018 . . . .

BRIT

BRIT

Thanks to our partnership with the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) for the FWMB Birthday Bash, we learned so much about this organization, including ALL it offers local families. From birthday parties and other events to camps and story times, and from field study opportunities to weekend classes and more, BRIT is now in the family activity rotation.

Fetching Fort Worth

fetching fw

Uh, Jenny said it best: “The concept of this small shop is so special and unique, you are going to want to check it out for yourself! Former museum curator Christina Hardman serves as your own personal shopper. You can book a private one-hour appointment in her gorgeous show room where you have all the space you need to try on new trends in person. Fetching Fort Worth is mom-friendly. Christina says all of the inventory is chosen with busy moms in mind, and she prides herself on keeping every item in her shop under the $65 price point.”

GoSili

Go Sili cup

These 100 percent silicone products are GENIUS. While GoSili sells items for all ages, we went kind of bonkers over its SiliKids line. The universal sippy cups lids fit on any cup — amazing, right? From bibs to straw cups to unbreakable big kid glasses, GoSili is for sure a FWMB favorite.

Houston Street Toy Co.

houston toy co

Looking for a local toy store that will cause you — and your kiddos — to gasp when you walk through the doors? Houston Street Toy Company is just the place; it’s filled with all sorts of unique toys geared towards sparking pretend play, problem solving, and tech-free fun.

lemonseed press

lemonseed press

Local mom and artist, Andrea, created lemonseed press to flex her creative muscles through design and hand-lettering. We’re fans of the lunch notes and camp notes for kids, but take note (pun intended!) lemonseed press specializes in custom orders of all kinds.

Loft22 Cakes

Loft 22 Cakes

From cupcakes to cookies, and from banana pudding to croissants and those stunning couture custom cakes Loft22 Cakes is famous for . . . not only are the bakery’s creations beautiful and modern, but they also are MEGA TASTY. Mmm, a craving is hitting us now . . . .

Not Your Mother's

Not Your Mother's

Alert — we have found the best dry shampoo in the world. Not Your Mother’s dry shampoo accidentally crossed our desks, but we felt lucky it did when we tried the mother (yep, another pun) of all dry shampoos. We may never wash our hair again; it’s that good. It leaves no visible residue, creates a nice texture, and it works! So, you’re welcome.

Poppy Stock

Uh, we don’t know what magical powers cause this scarf to work without sagging in all the wrong spots, but we’ve found a stylish scarf that has a POCKET. Stick in your phone, keys, pacifiers, or wipes . . . I mean, whatever you want. The Poppy Stock pocket scarf is a major win for mothers everywhere.

Poo-Pourri

You can support a North Texas brand and put an end to stinky bathrooms everywhere — okay, maybe just at your home or office, but still. It’s important work. There is magic in Poo-Pourri too, because somehow, some way, when you spray this sweet-smelling goodness into the toilet, and then — well, you know — the icky smell never leaves the bowl. The bathroom smells like peppermint or cinnamon or a mountain spring — whatever scent you pick. Hello, stocking stuffer.

River Legacy

River Legacy

There is so much to love about this hidden gem. We’re crazy about all the fun and learning opportunities River Legacy Living Science Center offers to DFW families: preschool classes, nature walks perfect for kiddos, the newly opened Discovery Room, and 1,300 acres of trails and playgrounds for kids to explore. Check out River Legacy’s event calendar too, because there is always something interesting happening.

Rothy's

rothys

It started with one FWMB team member raving about Rothys, and then it turned into another and another and another. Y’all, get on the bandwagon. These shoes are the real deal: all kinds of comfortable, easy to care for, and come in several cute styles and colors. We’ve warned Santa about the influx of requests coming his way.

Subaru Ascent

Yes, a car made our Favorite Things list. The Subaru Ascent is the IT car for legit reasons: affordable price, three rows, good storage, and lots of cool technology and extras. We are fans of the captain chairs in the second row, but we won’t judge you if you get a bench seat.

Urban Alchemy

urban alchemy

Honestly, its website description explains it best: “Welcome to your new living room. Urban Alchemy is your cozy chair, your favorite meeting space, and go-to place to celebrate. Arlington’s very first locally-owned coffee and wine bar in the heart of downtown.” It’s like a mix of Cheers and Friends right here in north Texas. Sold. Done. Hooked. Yes.

Yumbox

yumbox

Search no more for the perfect lunch kit. With its multiple sizes and arrangements, Yumbox is great for kids of all ages for many reasons: It has one latch for easy opening and closing (little fingers thank you); it has separated compartments; its lid is divided so each compartment seals when shut; it’s dishwasher safe. It also fits in most lunch bags. Yes and amen.

Zipadee-Zip

zipadee zip

To swaddle or not to swaddle? And then, how to break the swaddle? All super crucial milestones in your baby’s life. Yes, you HAVE seen the Zipadee-Zip on Shark Tank, but did you also know that it was created by a Fort Worth momma?! She had a problem, found a solution, and is passionate about sharing her product with tired moms (and dads) everywhere. Several members of the FWMB team give this a standing ovation!
