Girlfriends Pumpkin Spice Party

Are y’all like me, embracing all things pumpkin with your whole heart come the first leaf to fall? That leaf fell, and I grabbed my flannel plaid scarf, chambray shirt, and favorite fall mug filled to the brim with pumpkin spice coffee. Yes, I said it . . . PUMPKIN SPICE!

I hadn’t thrown a party in a while, and I needed to get my tribe together. What better reason than pumpkins? Next thing I knew, I was sending invites to the first annual Girlfriends Pumpkin Spice Party!

Here’s a look inside our afternoon’s ode to fall’s favorite gourd. 🙂

Girlfriends Pumpkin Spice Party

First, let’s set the scene . . . .

With the temps dropping (if only a couple degrees), the back porch was screaming for some fall color. You needn’t make too many changes, but these simple updates will transform your space into the perfect fall backdrop:

  • Pumpkins in various shapes and colors.
  • Mums (don’t splurge, just snag a small one and wrap the ugly plastic in burlap).
  • Candles (I liked simple white to contrast all of the warm colors. Budget Tip! Snag tall white prayer candles from Wal Mart. They are $1 each and last forever!)
  • Fall scarves (Great for pops of color around your space).
  • For a fun texture update I threw a white faux fur blanket over the patio furniture.

Each guest was asked to bring a dish to share, with the star being pumpkin. Before everyone arrived, I prepared the tablescape for their delectable dishes. We enjoyed pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin butter with brie, Honey Crisp apples with pumpkin cream cheese, butterscotch cookies, a fall-themed charcuterie tray, and a pumpkin spice bundt cake with vanilla cinnamon whipped cream (see recipe below).

For drinks, we enjoyed fresh brewed coffee with pumpkin spice cream, of course, chilled water bottles, and Dr. Pepper . . . again, of course!

Once everyone arrived, we filled our plates and mugs with delicious treats and sat down for the afternoon to truly enjoy the best part of the party . . . friendship. There is nothing better than girlfriends — although pumpkins in fall are a close second. 🙂 Not that we need an excuse to get together, but sometimes as busy, BUSY moms we do need to carve out time to spend with those friends who we laugh, cry, and do life with! They help make us better. Wherever you are in life . . . mom, wife, sister, friend, employee. Grab some of your favorite people, your tribe, have a party, and be filled.

Oh, and make this whipped cream. Throw it on EVERYTHING this fall/winter!

Vanilla Cinnamon Whipping Cream

  • 1 Pint heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 Cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tsp. good vanilla
  • 1/2 Tsp. cinnamon

Combine heavy whipping cream and sugar in your favorite mixing bowl. Using the whisk attachment on your hand blender, begin whisking, adding vanilla and cinnamon. Stop just as the cream begins to thicken, taste, and add more sugar if you like it sweeter. Whisk until light and fluffy. Dollop on pie, bundt cake, coffee, fruit, or just on the spoon. No judgement here.
