Update: It’s still summer. It’s still sweltering hot outside (and inside in some cases). You’re still looking for entertainment for the warm months. Well, we’ve got all of Fort Worth’s finest events lined up, so prepare to take July by storm.

Pictures and Pages — 10:30 – 11:45 a.m. at the Kimbell Art Museum // Museum learning begins early with this special program for preschoolers (ages four to six) and their adult partners. Popular children’s books inspire group conversations and simple art activities.

July 5 – August 19

Summer Zoo Camp — at the Fort Worth Zoo // Sign your kids up for one or more sessions of this fun-filled, animal adventure!

July 12 – July 17

42nd Street — at Bass Performance Hall // For a treat, check out this classic musical, laugh, and sing along with the songs.

Wednesdays in July

Artful Alphabet — 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art // Each week your kids can learn about famous artwork on display at the museum as well as different letters of the alphabet.

Saturdays in July

Pawnee Bill’s Wild West Show — 4:30 – 5:30 p.m at Cowtown Coliseum // The show will include trick roping, trick shooting, trick riding, and some good ole’ history with figures from the past reenacted!

Friday on the Green — 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. at Magnolia Green Park // You’ll find live music, good food, and a good time that the whole family will enjoy.

V Market Pop-Up — 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Shipping & Receiving // Vegan all day, every day! Actually, just on this day. For a tasty time, come check out these authentic goodies.

Kimbell Kids Drop-In Studio — 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. at the Kimbell Art Museum // This free program introduces children (ages 12 and younger) and their adult companions to fun and inspiring ways to enjoy art together. Each session features a brief gallery activity and a related studio art project.

Nature Walk — 2:00 – 2:45 p.m. at the River Legacy Living Science Center // Explore the nature trails surrounding the Science Center on a family-friendly guided Nature Walk.

Monday, July 11

Backyard Composting — 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the River Legacy Living Science Center // Want your kids to learn about taking care of the environment? The City of Arlington Master Composter volunteers hold composting classes the second Saturday of every month at the composting display in the Science Center’s parking lot area. The class includes demonstrations of proper pile building, and a worm compost bin. Attendees will receive a free book.

Tuesday, July 12

Discovery Day: Scavenger Hunt — 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens // Play a riveting game of clues out in nature (bring gardening gloves for all your littles)!

Free Walking Tour of the Japanese Garden — 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens // Discover the wonders of this beautiful, Fort Worth garden.

Thursday, July 14

Family Drop in: Paper Binoculars — 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens // Get crafty making binoculars, then view the gardens with your new creation!

Dirty Dozen Brass Band — 8:30 – 10:30 p.m. at the Levitt Pavilion Arlington // The Dirty Dozen revolutionized the New Orleans brass band style by incorporating funk and bebop into the traditional New Orleans jazz style, and has been a major influence on the majority of New Orleans brass bands since.

Saturday Story Time — 11:00 – 11: 45 a.m. at the River Legacy Living Science Center // Children of all ages are invited to listen to fun, seasonal stories presented by a librarian from the Arlington Public Libraries at River Legacy Living Science Center. Stay after for related activity.

3rd Thursday Jazz: Women in Jazz — 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the central branch of the Fort Worth Library // Let your soul be soothed by the tones of Breggett Rideau.

Saturday, July 23

National Day of the American Cowboy — 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Fort Worth Stockyards // This annual event will involve unique activities such as cow-milking, hay-stacking, and much, much more.

Minions — 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the Levitt Pavilion Arlington // Watch everyone’s favorite, little, yellow characters on the big screen.
