Education

Education. As a mother, it’s almost safe to say there is nothing more important in raising a child. The education category is intended to be a resource for mothers, whether your kiddos are in preschool, kindergarten, elementary, or high school. Topics range from parent-teacher gifts to STAAR testing, and more.

Fort Worth Moms publishes original, personal stories and advice from local moms, as well as relevant and fun information for those of us in the trenches of parenthood.

Every article published via Fort Worth Moms — whether someone from our in-house team, a guest writer, or a sponsored writer — uses their words to reflect their own opinions, experiences, and beliefs. No singular article or collection of articles represents the opinions, beliefs, or agenda of Fort Worth Moms.

We polled the Fort Worth Moms Blog (FWMB) team to find out which lunchboxes and accessories rate as the best for all ages and stages. We've considered lunchbox size, versatility, ease of cleaning, price, and how well they are liked by kiddos. Take a look at some favorites compiled here. These are lunchboxes we use for our own families that have stood the test of time -- and kids.
As an extrovert who was at home with kids all day long, I’d jump at any and every chance to get out the door on a date with the husband or my girlfriends in the evening. But now I want to spend the few hours I get with them all together if possible.
Solution: GO GET SOME DANG GROWNUPS for lunch and recess. Put them EVERYWHERE. Call them “social skills ambassadors” or something else fancy.
Because humans aren’t perfect and children can’t possibly know what they haven’t been taught, it is entirely plausible that even the best kids are unknowing contributors to the bullying problem at large. THIS is the secret spot where the solution lives.
One of the problems with private schools (aside from the price tag) is the cycle it perpetuates: those of privilege take their children (and money) out of public schools, public schools lose funding for things like new computers and extracurricular activities, school ratings go down, people of privilege continue to leave/stay out of public schools, and on and on it goes. The decline of public schools is highly racial.
In professional circles and in society, I was prepared to deal with the divisive, hateful rhetoric I would face for choosing to wear purdah, but what I wasn’t prepared for was the fallout of my decision, the negative impact on my children. I was swimming in my own thoughts on that meet-the-teacher Monday and frankly quite startled when someone said to me, “ Hi. My name is Mary.”
Texas is rich with Latinx influence and Hispanic influence, so it's no surprise there's an abundance of ways to celebrate. Be prepared to celebrate all month with festivals, food, and dancing!
