Safe & Smart Saturday :: First Aid Training Event

The Safe & Smart Saturday is happening Saturday (duh), September 28, 2019 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. This event, hosted by iCare Emergency Room and Urgent Care and Fort Worth Moms, is for moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors, friends, coaches, you name it, who are interested in learning the latest in first aid care for kids of all ages.

The morning will include one hour of first aid training by Alexis Markey, EMT. This session will cover topics like what to stock in your first aid kit, how to stop bleeding and dress a wound, how to deal with a sprain versus fracture, burn care 101,  choking, and more!

The second hour will include a panel discussion where you can ask all your questions. The panel will feature Alexis Markey, EMT; Brandi Cole, NP; and Shane Cole, MD.

Alexis Markey, an EMT at iCare, has worked at iCare for two years. Alexis has been an EMT for five years and previously worked for AMR and Arlington Memorial hospital before coming to iCare. Alexis is married to Andrew who is a firefighter/paramedic. Alexis and Andrew welcomed their first child, Ava, in December and are expecting their second in January. It’s a boy!

Brandi Cole is a nurse practitioner at JPS in downtown Fort Worth. Brandi works in the ER. Before getting her NP, she was an ER nurse. She attended UTA for her masters. Brandi is a mom to sweet Charlotte and loves her three dogs! 

Dr. Shane Cole is a board-certified emergency medicine physician and entrepreneur. He takes pride in leading teams that help patients transition from their worst moments back to enjoying a healthy life. He currently serves as a managing partner of University Urgent Care, as well as CEO and medical director of iCare ER & Urgent Care in Frisco and Fort Worth. Dr. Cole has 12 years of clinical experience in major metropolitan hospital emergency rooms. Dr. Cole lives in Fort Worth with his wife Brandi and their adorable two-year-old Charlotte. 

iCare is a freestanding emergency room and urgent care in southwest Fort Worth. Its experienced providers are all board-certified emergency physicians with years of emergency medicine training. Where :: Fort Worth Presbyterian Church, 6251 Oakmont Trail, 76132.

Who :: Ages 12+ will need a paid ticket.

How :: Snag your tickets before they are gone! Tickets are $5.00 (plus fees and taxes) per person ages 12+. Children under age 12 will still need to register for the event, so that we will have an accurate head count. Children ages 0-11 will require a free ticket. There are 75 paid tickets available!
