A conference for my husband first clued us in on the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa, so we turned a work trip into family fun. If you are curious about what this property has to offer your fam, or if you’re on the fence about making that reservation, here are 10 reasons (in no particular order) to take the plunge.

1. Not too far. This could be my favorite part as I am not that great of a car driver/rider (true confession). But the trip to Hyatt Regency Lost Pines is painless and quick at just a teeny bit over three hours. It’s far enough to feel like a true getaway but not far enough for you to lose your mind in the car.

2. Secluded. When you pull onto the resort, the driveway itself makes you feel like you’re entering an oasis. The property is self-contained and nestled in the middle of hill country, feeling far away from the hustle and bustle and schedule. It’s the perfect atmosphere for disconnecting from the daily grind and reconnecting with those you love most.

3. Nice accommodations. Here is another true confession: I like a comfortable (and clean, amen?) room when I’m on vacation. I cannot say enough good things about our hotel room. There was plenty of space, so that we didn’t feel on top of the kids and vice versa. The decor is updated and classic . . . and just flat out comfy. Yes, even the pull-out couch for the girls was a perfectly pleasant sleeping experience. And the huuuuge counter space in the bathroom was spot on.

Yummy dinner — and chocolate fondue fountain — at the Firewheel Cafe for dinner.

4. Lots of food options. You can never claim to go hungry on site. With numerous restaurants — cafés to buffets to fine dining or food trucks — there are PLENTY of options to please everyone in the family.

5. Activities. I hope you’re sitting in a comfortable chair, because we’re hitting a doozie here halfway through our list. There are SO MANY activities to choose from when staying at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines. There are both paid and free options. Upon arrival, each guest receives an agenda listing all the activities for the upcoming days. During our stay, the options included crafts, animal experiences, movies and popcorn, games, and so forth. In addition, you can sign up for extra adventures like hiking, horseback riding, and more. Our daughters tried the pony ride experience — which was a mega hit for these city slickers.

The property itself offers tons of opportunities for spontaneous fun. From free bike “rentals” for the entire family to walks to the river, and from fishing in the pond to playing badminton or tackling the playground, you have no excuse to stay indoors. This is the essence of unplugging and making memories.

7. S’mores. This activity deserves a line item all its own. Every night, starting at 7:00, the s’mores carts roll out! My girls looked forward to this EVERY evening. Whether you snag a private s’mores experience, which we enjoyed the first night, or you participate in the community s’mores fire, it is such a sweet time. The treats are yummy, but it was delightful meeting other families. My kids quickly buddied up with others while the adults chatted in the rocking chairs. Norman Rockwell would be inspired.

8. Animals. Not only does Hyatt Regency Lost Pines have a specific section for its animal pals you can visit, but it also brings out those animals for guest experiences throughout the day. The two adorable alpacas were fan favorites of our family. This is an extra bonus, especially if you have an animal-loving kiddo.

There are also other activities for adults — like golf or horseback riding, too. And where are the kids during all this? Hello, Camp Hyatt! Both girls spent an afternoon session at Camp Hyatt from 1:00 – 5:00 — and they LOVED it. The girls participated in crafts, ate lunch, played games, explored outside, and more. (Camp Hyatt also did a great job accommodating my older daughter’s food allergy issues.)

10. Helpful staff. I cannot let this blog post pass without giving proper kudos to the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines staff. You see, before we left for our trip, I injured my knee, putting a big damper in my mobility. The staff on site helped me immensely and never made me feel like a burden. Even with a bum knee, I was still able to enjoy my family and every activity. I am forever grateful — and impressed.

So, what do you think? Are you going to try Hyatt Regency Lost Pines? When you do, be sure to tell them Fort Worth Moms sent ya — and share your #LostPinesMoment with us.
