Our friends at McDonald’s sponsored this edition of “Around Cowtown.” Did you know McDonald’s is hosting Lunch Bunch dates for FWMB readers — that include FREE food? Be sure to check out each month’s “Around Cowtown” so you don’t miss one! We’d love to have lunch with YOU.

The flowers are blooming — and so is Bloom 2018, a Fort Worth Moms Blog-hosted event for expectant moms and moms who are currently parenting children two years and under!! (Buy one of the few remaining swag bag tickets, if you haven’t already). Baseball season has started, and summer is fast approaching. Lunch Bunch at McDonald’s — 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. // Hear from a registered dietician about about dietician approved and recommended menu items at McDonald’s and tips for eating health on-the-go, while meeting fellow parents in the Fort Worth area. Attendees will receive a FREE Happy Meal with the purchase of a premium salad during the event and will also be able to enter a raffle to win $50 worth of McDonald’s Arch Cards.

Maternal Health and Infant Mortality in Tarrant County — 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. // Join the discussion, on what actions can be taken within the community to address the infant mortality rate in Tarrant County.

Read, Play, Learn in the Park: Parkhill Park — 5:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. // Join Grand Prairie Public Libraries in a favored children’s programs at the park! Expect story readings, singing, and playing together on the playground. 

Childbirth Course: The Bradley Method — 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. // Bradley classes cover pregnancy nutrition, exercise, how to write a birth plan, the physiology of pregnancy and birth, the stages of labor, avoiding unnecessary intervention, variations and complications, informed consent, natural pain management and relaxation techniques, the postpartum period, and breastfeeding. 

April 6 – 8

FAN EXPO Dallas 2018 — Times vary daily. // Come out to the largest comics, sci-fi, horror, anime and gaming convention in Texas. Among the celebrities attending will be Michael J. Fox, Jeff Goldblum, Jason Momoa, Morena Baccarin, Ben McKenzie, Felicia Day, Richard Dean Anderson, Famke Janssen, Billy Dee Williams, Paul Reubens, and dozens more.

April 7

Nature Walk — 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. // Enjoy a free family-friendly guided nature walk along the trails surrounding the River Legacy Living Science Center. Space is limited, so be sure to RSVP.

Come Alive Block Party — 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. // Enjoy a family-friendly party with bounce houses, neighborhood fire truck and police officers, concessions, and field games! Stay for a concert with Elijah Schrack, a family four-pack ticket raffle to Six Flags over Texas, and a hayride with music!

April 12

Hold Me Tight, Conversations for Connection :: A Workshop for Couples — Times vary daily. // During this two-day workshop, couples will learn about the science of love and attachment — and how to repair, improve, and strengthen connection in their relationships. This workshop will give couples opportunities to work one-on-one through seven impactful relationship conversations. 

April 14

Teddy Bear Carnival — 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. // The Arlington Public Library invites families to bring a favorite stuffed animal to this carnival-style, come-and-go event. The lawn at the southwest branch will have a festive array of storytimes, activities, and arts and crafts for preschool-aged children. 

Family Movie Fun: Sing — 1:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. // The Fort Worth Library offers a free screening of the beloved children’s film.

Kids Obstacle Challenge — Event times vary. // Run the obstacle course with your kids ages five through 16, with 12-15 fun and challenging obstacles and mud. It is the largest touring adventure and obstacle course event series for kids in the nation! 

Princess Spring Tea Party — Session times vary. // Join your favorite princesses for a royal spring tea! Princesses and staff will serve you and your little ones refreshments. Learn tea etiquette, enjoy live singing and story performances by your princess hostesses, participate in crafts and dancing lessons, and take selfies in the photo prop area. 

April 15

Bloom 2018 :: An Event for New & Expecting Moms — 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. // Cook Children’s Medical Centers hosts this event for expectant moms and moms who are currently parenting children two years and under. The afternoon will focus on information, resources, products, and more that target the pregnancy and delivery stages of parenting through the first two years.

Celebrating the Young Child — 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. // The Fort Worth chapter of National Association for the Education of Young Children hosts an afternoon of free activities and fun at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas. Enjoy art and nature activities ideal for children up to eight years old.

April 18

Saddle Up for Autism — 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. // The Hope Center for Autism welcomes keynote speaker and autism spokesperson, Dr. Temple Grandin, during its annual fundraiser, “Saddle Up for Autism.” The western-themed event will include dinner and a cash bar. 

April 19

Sesame Street Meet & Greet — 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. // The Sesame Street Pop Up Tour: F Is for Friends is coming to Arlington! Bring your littles to the southeast branch to meet Abby Cadabby and Elmo!

MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival — Times vary daily. // This family-friendly event brings tens of thousands of people together on the streets of downtown Fort Worth. Spanning more than 27 city blocks, the festival will feature 223 juried artists from across the U.S., chart-topping entertainers, authentic Texas cuisine, and arts-and-crafts activities for the whole family.

MECPTA 5th Annual Touch a Truck — 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. // The Mansfield Early Childhood PTA invites you and your truck enthusiast kiddos to this family fun day featuring vehicles to touch, explore, and pose for photos on. Also enjoy kids’ activities — including a transportation station and obstacle course — vendor market, and food trucks. All proceeds benefit children in need in the Mansfield community.

DFW Healthy Living Expo — 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. // Come help spread the health at the spring kick-off DFW Healthy Living Expo! This free and family-friendly event features exhibitors, speakers, demonstrations, and activies for adults and children. 

April 28 – 29

Dallas Arboretum’s Artscape Fine Art and Craft Fair — Times vary daily. // Artscape, the Dallas Arboretum’s juried fine art and craft show and sale, brings together outstanding artists from around the country. The show features a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, two- and three-dimensional mixed media, photography, and more.
