Between preparing to survive spring break and shuttling kids to swim lessons (see some options in our guide) ahead of summer, don’t forget to take some time to enjoy local festivities this month. March 1

Animal Exploration — 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. // Enjoy a native animal encounter with a River Legacy naturalist, and discover its unique habitats and adaptations.

March 2

Space Mission at LEGOLAND Discovery Center — 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. // This intergalactic LEGO®-building exhibit launches into orbit! Daily through the end of 2018, visitors build their own spaceships, take over mission control operations, and make LEGO rockets blast off into outer space.

March 2 – 4

2018 Oscar Shorts — Times vary daily. // Magnolia at the Modern and The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth host screenings of the 2018 Academy Award nominees for Best Animated and Best Live Action short films.

Spring & Summer Sale! – JBF Fort Worth — Times vary daily. // Just Between Friends (JBF) is a community-wide children’s consignment event with more than 100,000 name-brand items at 50-90 percent off retail.

March 3

Roanoke Fishing in the Park — 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. // Bring your family to the Roanoke Community Park to enjoy free hot dogs and water at this annual fishing event and competition.

Kids in the Kitchen – Embrace Your Health Fair – Junior League — 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. // Free games and snacks at this family health fair promoting healthier living and more exercise. 

Urban Gardening: Making Small Spaces Productive — 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. // The Botanical Research Institute of Texas offers this course on the basics of sustainable gardening systems in small spaces.

Water Harvesting — 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. // The Botanical Research Institute of Texas offers this two-hour, hands-on class with instructions on designing, building, and using your own rainwater-harvesting system.

GROWing in the Garden Day — 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. // This free, family-friendly exploration event includes story times, nature play, botanical art, composting, and more. Hosted by GROW, an educational collaboration between the Fort Worth Botanic Garden and the Botanical Research Institute of Texas.

Nature Walk — 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. // Enjoy a free family-friendly guided nature walk along the trails surrounding the River Legacy Living Science Center. Space is limited, so be sure to RSVP.

Music for Mental Health — 6:45 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. // Proceeds from this concert given by high school musicians benefit the LOSS (Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors) Team of Tarrant County, a program of Mental Health America of Greater Tarrant County.

March 3 – 4

10th Annual Funky Finds Spring Fling — 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. // Shop local at this free indoor family- and pet-friendly event at the Will Rogers Memorial Center. Support more than 100 artists, crafters, designers, authors, and gourmet food makers.

March 4 – 6

Children’s Consignment Event — Times vary daily. // Shop the Rhea Lana’s of Keller/Southlake upscale children’s consignment event for everything from infant to teen clothing, toys, books, and games. Remember: Tuesday, March 6 is half-price day!

March 9 – 11

Disney Fantasia: Live in Concert — Times vary daily. // The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra performs a live soundtrack to select scenes from Walt Disney’s Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 at the Bass Performance Hall.

Goodguys Giant Car Show — Times vary daily. // Check out more than 2,000 older rods, customs, muscle cars, trucks, and classics at Texas Motor Speedway. Includes a free Kids Zone.

March 10

Pop-Up Yoga + Tacos : benefiting Presbyterian Night Shelter — 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. // Attend a one-hour pop-up yoga class given by Panther City Yoga Project on the lawn of Americado. Stay for tacos, chips and salsa, and freshly made passionfruit Agua Fresca.

Family Movie Fun: The Aristocats — 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. // The Fort Worth Library offers a free screening of the beloved children’s film.

Nature Walk — 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. // Enjoy a free family-friendly guided nature walk along the trails surrounding the River Legacy Living Science Center. Space is limited, so be sure to RSVP.

March 12 – 15

Spring Break Wonders — 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.; 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. // Free family programming at the The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Daily sessions are led by a docent and include a gallery project designed by the education department.

March 16 – 17

My Princess Moment – Fort Worth — Times vary daily. // Treat your child to a princess tea party, games, dancing, pictures, and more. 

March 17

Saint Patricks Day at SBC— 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. // Celebrate St. Paddy’s Day at Shannon Brewing Company with food, beer, and live music.

March 24

Not In My City – Fort Worth  — 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. // UnBound and the TC 5-Stones Taskforce offer this coordinated outreach to bring human trafficking awareness to our city. Parental discretion is advised.

Bedford ArtsFEST presents Islands of the South Pacific — 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. // Enjoy a day full of free live music and for-purchase food, craft beer, wine, and art at the Boys Ranch Park in Bedford.

Fort Worth Earth Party! — 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. // Join the Greater Fort Worth Sierra Club at the Fort Worth Water Gardens for a kid-friendly event with merchandise and more information about the club.

Ablaze – Igniting Passion for a Cure  — 6:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. // Chef-inspired roast steer dinner, auction and entertainment at Firestone & Robertson Distilling Co. Whiskey Ranch. Proceeds benefit local initiatives by the Alzheimer’s Association.

March 25

Wine Down Relay — 8:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. // Grab some friends and form a team to run a 4.5-mile loop along the Trinity River in this 18-mile relay. Then meet up at Waterside for wine tastings from Whole Foods and an after party in The Grove.

March 30

Artisan Center Theater presents: The Little Mermaid — Times vary daily. // Come to the Artisan Center Theater in Hurst for the opening night of the musical based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories and the classic Disney animated film. Performances run through May 12.
