Disclaimer: This post talks about POOP. If talking about poop makes you uncomfortable, then I recommend reading no further; however, if you are or have been uncomfortable from NOT being able to poop . . . then read on.
After giving birth, I didn’t poop for EIGHT whole days. Yes, you read that right. EIGHT DAYS. I was terrified and so anxious for the poo that was soon to come. Thankfully, my lovely nurse at Baylor Hospital in Grapevine, Texas, shared with me the secret to comfortable poops, and now I am here to share it with you. You’re welcome.
First and foremost, stool softeners are your best friends when you’re having trouble pooping. Let’s talk reality . . . it’s all just building up in there, and ain’t nobody want to push a rock-solid anything out of that sacred back hole. Trust me, friends, stool softeners are the way to go.
Once you’ve taken your stool softener, this GoPoo Juice will help you, well, actually go poo. It gets things movin’ and a groovin’, so be sure you don’t have plans to go anywhere after you drink this.
- 1/3 Cup Prune Juice
- 1/3 Cup Apple Juice
- 1/3 Cup Sprite
- Mix the prune juice and apple juice in a microwave-safe coffee mug (leaving room for the Sprite).
- Heat the mixture through in the microwave on the "beverage" setting. (Alternatively, heat the mixture in a saucepan on the stove top to desired temperature.)
- Remove heated mixture from microwave and add Sprite.
- Remember to take the stool softener before you drink your GoPoo Juice. The juice will make you go, but the stool softener will help it flow.
- Light some candles, play some calming music, read a book, or watch your favorite Netflix show while sipping on your GoPoo Juice. The key here is to relax and just let things happen.
While I am not a medial professional, a local doctor suggested calling your physician if you haven’t had a bowel movement in seven days. Other women consulted for this article use over-the-counter laxatives, products like Miralax, and an occasional enema. If you have chronic constipation, please consult your physician because it could be symptoms of another issue.
Do you have any tips or tricks that help to get things moving?
I bought some of that numbing spray and went to town with it before my first postpartum poo!
I’ve never heard of this numbing spray! I will have to invest in some for the next pregnancy! Thanks for sharing 🙂
This is some valuable info!!
