1

Disclosure :: The “2017 Guide to Preschools and Parents’ Day Out” is brought to you by the Fort Worth Moms Blog and the many school sponsors listed in this post. Thank you to our sponsors who made this guide possible! We hope it is a helpful resource as you make schooling decisions for your young children. Additional area preschools are listed at the end of this guide.

What’s the #1 question we are asked??? What preschools do you recommend? Moms want to know the options, where others send their kids — and why, and what educational philosophy those schools abide by. So, we compiled a list of schools across Tarrant County that are great options for your little ones. You’ll find a variety of curriculum choices, pricing options, and time slots.

Also, consult our “How to Pick a Preschool” article for tips to consider when making your decision.

Founded in 1968, privately owned Montessori School of Fort Worth (MSFW) is a fully accredited Montessori school serving children age 18 months through eighth grade. MSFW is a child-centered, dynamic environment, responsive to the needs of children as they grow and learn. The MSFW community believes learning occurs in an inquisitive, cooperative, nurturing atmosphere.

MSFW fosters confidence and sets the foundation for a positive self-image for the student as a learner. Following the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori, the child learns by doing. Dr. Montessori, one of history’s greatest educators, designed materials to enable children to learn skills in steps, at levels they can master, and that correspond to their natural way of learning. The teachers nurture the inner attitude of respect and enthusiasm for learning.

Students in a Montessori environment learn by doing, as they choose work from individualized learning materials. The multi-sensory Montessori materials provide experiences at a concrete level then progress toward abstraction by integrating complexity. Inherent in multi-age groupings is the opportunity to learn from other students and to participate in cooperative projects. Interdependence, rather than competition, is encouraged to foster high self-esteem.

Visit its website to discover more about MSFW’s approach or call to schedule a tour of the school.

Nature’s playground is perfect for preschool learning! Tapping into their own natural curiosity, children ages 3 to 5/6 explore the natural world through nature walks, stories, art, song, and dramatic play at River Legacy’s Nature School. Classroom lessons are brought to life when children explore the nature trails winding through the forested grounds. These hands-on adventures will turn the forest into a fabulous outdoor learning lab for your young scientist! Opportunities to encounter ladybugs and snails, earthworms and opossums, native wildflowers, and so much more build their understanding of nature’s diverse life forms.

Children attend Nature School classes one day a week for 30 weeks, September through May. Half-day and extended day options are available for 3 and 4 year olds. An extended day program specifically geared for 5 or 6 year olds not yet enrolled in kindergarten is offered one day a week. Small classes of nine to 12 students with highly qualified teachers in each classroom ensure lots of individual attention and set your child on a path to love learning! The inquiry based curriculum introduces age-appropriate science, math and literacy skills using nature as the foundation.
