On August 1, the Fort Worth Moms blog hosted not one but two sold out Mom & Me Create Dates, and it was a smashing success! An excited group of nearly 100 mamas and their littles showed up for quite the artful event at the Van Grow Art Studio for Kids.

Upon arrival, moms were able to sign up for a drawing while each kid received a swag bag. Thanks to our sponsors for making those goodie bags a hit:

Entering the art studio, the kids’ eyes were greeted with a kaleidoscope of color. The Van Grow Art Studio offers an environment ready for creative fun! From the pottery painting room to the splash paint room, what’s not to love? Van Grow: Art Studio for Kids offers weekly fine art classes for ages 2-17. The weekly after-school art program and Saturday workshops focus on creative idea development. The instructors teach drawing, art history, and introduce students to all artistic mediums. The weekly preschool program focuses on line-by-line drawing instruction (to help define fine motor skills) and fun projects using paint, clay, and collage. Van Grow also offers “Parent and Me” classes so that loved ones can experience being creative together. During school holidays and the summer, kiddos can attend day camps. Each day is filled with fine art and “FUN art” activities based on a central theme. It is an action packed day full of creative projects and free time in the studio. Birthday parties are always a winner too as well as the Paint Your Own Pottery Studio. And, of course, you can book Van Grow for a moms’ night out party!

Oh, wait we got sidetracked. Back to the recap!

Mom and Me Create DateOnce everyone was  settled, the lovely ladies of Van Grow Art Studio instructed their watchful audience on how to create a cupcake out of molding clay. My oh my, were there some masterpieces! Pinks, and blues, and greens, and sprinkles, and stripes. They all looked so realistic we were quite tempted to eat them.

But eating our Play Doh cupcakes was quite unnecessary, thanks to Pokey O’s Cookies and Ice Cream. All participants of the event chose chocolate, vanilla, or cookies and cream ice cream to go along with a chocolate chip, peanut butter, snicker doodle, or cappuccino cookie. You read that right. A CAPPUCCINO COOKIE. It was safe to say everyone received a small and satisfactory taste of heaven. (Hey, by the way, did you know you can hire Pokey O’s Tarrant County to cater parties, corporate events, and the like?)

As moms created and talked and giggled and bonded with their wee ones, the drawing commenced, and our 14 giveaway winners walked away with prizes from:

boy and momAs the activities came to a close, the guests got the chance to tour the studio, taking in all sorts of art and crafts and painted pottery they had on display. Mamas and littles alike left happy, hands laden with their beautiful creations, and ready for a nap after all of the sugary goodness.

Can’t wait to see you at the next Mom & Me event. In the meantime, be sure to join one (or more!) of our FREE Neighbor Groups that offer monthly meet ups for moms and kids.
