FWMB Neighbor Groups // Won’t You Be My Neighbor?

By now it’s no secret that being a mom is hard, overwhelming, and altogether isolating. It’s easy, in this thankless job, to get lost in the shuffle (or line dance) of diapers and lego injuries. Moms need moms to keep our sanity. We need to hear “me too” and be reminded that we’re not fighting a losing battle. We need community and sometimes an excuse to get out of the house and have conversations with other grown-ups. Moms need friends. Moms want friends. We’ve heard your cries for community, and we’ve answered with: Neighbor Groups.

Thanks to Mister Rogers, we know neighbors are more than the person next door — although she’s nice too. Neighbors are friends. Neighbors do life together. Neighbors support and encourage.

Our Neighbor Groups are Facebook groups managed by FWMB for moms throughout Tarrant County, from Keller to Cleburne, Aledo to Arlington, and everywhere in between. Each group has an assigned FWMB Neighbor Group leader who will decide, in conjunction with her group, a standing meet-up time and place for regular get togethers among group members. This could be play dates at a nearby park every first Friday of the month or lunch at a local restaurant every other Wednesday. You can attend every meet up, or as your schedule allows. This is our solution for taking our big city and making it feel small; our way of taking the online FWMB community and fostering real-life, face-to-face friendships and support systems for moms in our area. Our hope is to create a safe place for moms from all walks of life to share stories and receive encouragement.

The basic rules for Neighbor Groups are:

1. Be kind. We do not ask or expect everyone to agree all the time. Motherhood is the easiest thing to have an opinion about but the hardest thing to actually do. There will, however, be no toleration of any inflammatory, derogatory, or bullying talk. We want this to be a safe place for moms to share their stories, including struggles.

2. No personal promoting. We love seeing moms find their passions. Really we do, but this is not the place for personal advertisements. If you would like to advertise with FWMB, please contact us at [email protected].

3. No buy/sell/trade. There are loads of b/s/t groups on Facebook, neighbor groups are not the place for selling furniture or baby clothes. Rather neighbor groups are a place to meet other moms and grow friendships.

It is simple to join! There are no fees, no memberships, and no minimum attendance or participation requirements. When you visit the Neighbor Group Facebook page you wish to join, you simply click the “Join” tab or input your name into the “Add Members” field. Easy peasy.

Tarrant County is a BIG place and two BIG goals of the FWMB is building community and championing motherhood . . . TOGETHER. Our Tarrant County Moms :: Community + Conversation Facebook group is a place for us to ask the mom questions, to seek advice, and to get encouragement from moms all around Tarrant County. We hope you’ll join us!

Below is a list of our LOCAL Neighbor Groups. Tarrant County Dads Neighbor Group

Sometimes life gets complicated. Sometimes life doesn’t go as planned. Sometimes life goes against the grain and you find yourself in a situation with which your friends cannot fully understand. We get it. That’s why in addition to our area groups, we will also have topical groups where moms can find support from other moms walking that special road. These groups are not bound by area.

Adoptive Moms

Single Moms

Food Allergy Moms

Moms of Multiples

Moms of Special Needs Kids

Fertility Discussion with Tarrant County Moms

We want to support ALL journeys of parenthood as parenting is HARD! In 2017, we launched Tarrant County Dads Neighbor Group, a local DADS ONLY online resource, because sometimes you need someone who can understand the triumphs and struggles of being a father.

As time goes on, we want to add more groups to our family. If you are interested in becoming a topical group leader for the Fort Worth Moms Blog, send us an email ([email protected]) and we will see how we can get you involved. Big things are happening in Tarrant County! We can hardly contain ourselves!

Be sure to follow Fort Worth Moms Blog on FacebookInstagramPinterest, and Twitter.
