Seven Kid-Friendly Christmas Crafts

Like many superb crafters, I am a copy crafter. If I see it, I can make it happen or at least tweak it to my version and make it happen. So, I truly appreciate easy but cute craft ideas. When planning our crafting fun for this Christmas season, I wanted some fun crafts that were hands on for my little guy and that worked as gifts for the Grands but weren’t the same over used ideas.

Hands-on Fun

Shimmery Snow Paint– You just can’t go wrong with paint and glitter, so you know it is sure to please! I heard about this recipe from a friend long before I ever crossed it on Pinterest. Crafts that other mommas talk about are usually sure winners! It is easy to use and so much fun.

Felt Christmas Tree– I have seen this one all over Pinterest and have friends that have raved of how busy this one keeps toddlers. I know my son would love this. Super easy and occupies for hours!

Felt Nativity Scene – Similar to the felt Christmas tree, I thought this one looked so neat. What better way to tell your kids the story of Christmas than with a felt nativity scene that THEY can put together!12

Beaded Candy Cane Ornaments – These are very simple to make, and I enjoy sharing the story of the candy cane with my little guy. I know there has been discussion on whether or not this story is historically correct, but I have always enjoyed it as it points us to Jesus during each Christmas season.

Gifts for the Grands

Salt Dough Ornaments – We make salt dough ornaments for gifts every year. There is just so much you can do with salt dough ornaments, and they are so fun for the little ones. Last year, we made them with handprints and initials. Here are some other ideas you can use.  Not only are they fun, but they make such great gifts for family too.

Paper Plate Snowman — My son has been obsessed with snowmen (especially Olaf) ever since the Frozen craze hit. He really enjoyed this activity, and it made such a great gift for Aunt Cheryl, who also loves everything snowmen.

Merry Christmas WreathThis is such a cute idea for the Grands! Nothing says “Welcome Home” or “Merry Christmas” quite like the little hands and feet of grandchildren. I haven’t tried this one yet, but I intend to before the big day. It’ll be messy, but my little guy loves messy!

So ready or not, the Christmas season is upon us, so go ahead, set up and get to crafting with the little ones! They will be so grateful and so will the grands in their lives. And icing on the cake? They will sleep soundly after tiring themselves out with craft projects, and you can put on Elf, prop your feet up, and finally enjoy a HOT cup of coffee.

Shannon
Though Shannon, a Mississippi girl at heart, and her husband, Paul, met on a mission trip in Florida, they did not get together until two years later when Paul played the sad, deployed soldier card. Six years, marriage, and two kids later, and Paul is still bragging that it worked! Shannon is a fun-loving mom to one busy boy, Benjamin Riley (2), and one sweet little girl, Autumn Merci (4 months). Although Shannon moved several times while her husband was part of the Army, she now proudly calls Fort Worth home. Shannon has enjoyed adjusting to civilian life and learning to run a home on a minimal budget. Some of her favorite things include garage sale-ing, traveling to new places, trying out new recipes, watching college football, and sipping a good glass of cold, sweet tea!
