Education

Education. As a mother, it’s almost safe to say there is nothing more important in raising a child. The education category is intended to be a resource for mothers, whether your kiddos are in preschool, kindergarten, elementary, or high school. Topics range from parent-teacher gifts to STAAR testing, and more.

Fort Worth Moms publishes original, personal stories and advice from local moms, as well as relevant and fun information for those of us in the trenches of parenthood.

Every article published via Fort Worth Moms — whether someone from our in-house team, a guest writer, or a sponsored writer — uses their words to reflect their own opinions, experiences, and beliefs. No singular article or collection of articles represents the opinions, beliefs, or agenda of Fort Worth Moms.

No matter what your school plan is for the fall, it's time to gear up and get ready. Grab your list and a big cup of coffee and hit the ground running.
Parenting high schoolers requires us to shift our strategies from how we were parented. It’s going to look different from “back in my day.” Rather than expect my kids to fit into the paradigm of my experience, I need to be willing to adapt to their reality.
MHMR offers the regular virtual group opportunities for the community at no charge.
You can create a truly personalized education plan for YOUR child. If something isn’t working, you can change it. This past school year, I changed my son’s math curriculum in November. I also took two months off from phonics, because he was dreading every lesson. Guess what. It was fine.
You got them to the finish line! It wasn’t what you envisioned but it was definitely unforgettable. Be pleased with yourself mom, you now have a school graduate!
I missed my last opportunity to look over their shoulder and read their writing in real-time. I'll never again greet them by name as they walk into my class and laugh when they roll their eyes at my jokes.
My biggest dislike about the current situation is the sudden, massive increase in technology use. I think for the ages of my children, technology is not the best approach for learning. And, the lack of hands-on experiences are frustrating the kids. Basically, it’s okay for school maintenance, but would 100% not work for the long term.
