Education

Education. As a mother, it’s almost safe to say there is nothing more important in raising a child. The education category is intended to be a resource for mothers, whether your kiddos are in preschool, kindergarten, elementary, or high school. Topics range from parent-teacher gifts to STAAR testing, and more.

Fort Worth Moms publishes original, personal stories and advice from local moms, as well as relevant and fun information for those of us in the trenches of parenthood.

Every article published via Fort Worth Moms — whether someone from our in-house team, a guest writer, or a sponsored writer — uses their words to reflect their own opinions, experiences, and beliefs. No singular article or collection of articles represents the opinions, beliefs, or agenda of Fort Worth Moms.

I am prouder of you than there are words to tell you. Your toothless grin and endless drawings and stories are just external evidence of a breathtaking transformation. Leaving the cocoon of home and walking down those halls has given us both wings. I am learning to share your awesomeness with others, and seeing you learn to love is my gift.
I encourage you to really evaluate your appreciation for your child’s teachers and appropriately express your gratitude. This can come in many forms. You might go to the school principal and articulate your positive experience with that teacher. Or you could buy flowers or a gift card or, perhaps, write a heartfelt note. Whatever it is, I am sure that teacher will be grateful for your acknowledgement.
I know you say that my son is a blessing, but, honestly, you too are a blessing to our lives in so many ways. My son truly does adore you and all that you do. Thank you for being understanding when his moods are all over the place, or when he doesn't have on his listening ears. You have made us feel more than welcomed in our first year at a new school.
I don’t think you realize just how thankful I am for you, choosing to give your life for the betterment of the future. Attempting to shape the minds of tweens/teens is not a job for the weak. It means dealing with physical and emotional changes for them.
We teamed up with Creative Soul Music School in our search to answer the question of whether kids should take music lessons, and we've got to tell you: The instructors get it. Music lessons accommodate the student -- musical interest and learning needs -- to cultivate a lifelong skill.
I am so grateful to have been a part of such a remarkable program. I have grown in so many ways, and I am thankful for all the staff and leadership that pour into our development. Being a part of the youth orchestra has helped shape my life and prepared me for what lies ahead.
As a pre-K teacher, I loved when parents had at least a couple of questions because it meant they were invested in finding the right fit for their students. So, if you're hitting the admission tours, I've compiled a list of some questions -- for the school, for the admissions director, and for the teacher -- to help you get started.
