Meet FWMB Executive Team!

Emily YoureeEmily Y, Owner

Emily Y first became involved with Fort Worth Moms Blog when it began in the Spring of 2013 as a contributing writer. She became the managing editor in the Spring of 2014. Twelve months later, in 2015, she became the sole owner of the blog.

Emily Y became a mom in 2011 when she and her husband welcomed home sweet Anna Zane and then added Louisa to the family in November 2014. Since then, life is full and fun! In addition to wife and mom and business owner, Emily works on freelance projects as a writer/editor, wielding her red pen for grammatical justice everywhere. In 2014, she co-authored and released Legendary Locals of Fort Worth. She has also written a Bible study, Grace in the Empty Spaces. She also enjoys gardening, yard sales, and drinking caffeine during the wee ones’ nap times. Follow Another Youree Day where she documents the joys and jests of life as a working mama.

Emily S, Founder & Contributor

Emily Strong

Emily S is one of the original founders of FWMB. She started the blog in the Spring of 2013 with fellow mom, Carly, and then took on sole ownership in 2014. With the arrival of her third in 2015, she decided to take a step back and pass on the torch to Emily Y. She is thrilled to still remain involved with Fort Worth Moms Blog as she is passionate about being a mom and her community. She has a strong passion for giving back to the Fort Worth community and has been active in the Fort Worth Junior League since 2007. She  is always amazed at what great things can be accomplished when people come together, especially a group of women.

In her past life, she was a tax accountant, but since starting a family, is now a full-time mommy chasing after Wyatt (2009), Abigail (2011), and Eleanor (2015). She can rarely be found alone, not even in the bathroom, but finds time to sneak in a solo shopping trip to Anthropologie occasionally or sneaking out after the kids have gone down to meet her girlfriends for a drink and to play mahjong.

Her hard-headed attorney husband, JB, brought her to his hometown of Fort Worth in 2006 and she quickly felt at home. Through challenges and triumphs, an incredible resource to Emily has been her fellow mommy friends. They have offered support, advice, and sometimes a kick-in-the pants when she needed it. She is honored to have started Fort Worth Moms Blog and bring that sense of community and resources to other moms.

Colleen, Advertising Coordinator

Colleen, an Illinois native, and her husband, Aaron, met in 2001 during their freshman year at Texas Christian University and have been charmed by both each other, and Fort Worth, ever since. Colleen is mom to a lively toddler boy (2013), and a lovingly energetic Westie named Jett. What makes her smile is the heady aroma of that first cup of morning coffee, the opportunity to be creative, consuming mid-afternoon hunks of dark chocolate, seeing her son smile, and feeling the down-to-the-bone joy that is motherhood. Outside of what seems like daily trips to Central Market or Trader Joe’s, she is likely to also be found sitting crisscross on a colorful rug at a story time, strolling the Fort Worth Zoo or at home gardening the pots on her front porch, also known as her living room.

Colleen is the advertising coordinator for the FWMB. She helps local and national businesses connect with the FWMB readership and benefits local mamas by providing new information on products and services important to them.

Elisa

Elisa, a Texas native, and her husband, Mike, met in 2003 at Baylor University. Minus a two-year (cold) stint in Ohio, they have resided in Fort Worth since 2005. Mike and Elisa welcomed their first child, Colin, into the world in 2012. Currently, Elisa is a stay-at-home-mom, but before motherhood, she worked as a speech language pathologist treating adults with swallowing, cognitive, and language difficulties. She must have coffee in the morning, loves to search the Target aisles for sales, and considers walking an excellent form of exercise.

021C1206Elizabeth

A Florida native and recovering tanorexic, Elizabeth followed her heart to Fort Worth to be with the stud muffin that she now calls her husband since 2013. Elizabeth quit her job as a catering manager at a local lunch spot to stay home with her two adorable (and demanding) catering customers in 2014. Utilizing her degree in hospitality management from the University of Florida, she oversees the special and completely unspecial events at the home, as well as volunteers with the American Cancer Society’s Cowtown Ball. Although so much has changed with the arrival of her man babies, some things remain the same: She loves laughing at her own jokes, making lists, a stiff whiskey drink, and scoring the perfect new pair of shorts.

Emily G headshotEmily G

Emily is married to Brad and mother of the handsome Jack and precious Annabelle. After more than a decade as a software engineer (two of those as a working mother), she cleaned out her cubicle and can be found most days at one of the beautiful parks Cowtown has to offer, without a WiFi hotspot in range. These days, Emily spends her time exploring our fair city with her babes in tow, volunteering at her church, cheering on the Fightin’ Texas Aggies, and shopping her way through DFW at large. You’ll find her journaling her daily life at Being Mrs. Gentry.

021C1101Hayley

Hayley was born in Fort Worth and raised in the small, nearby town of Bridgeport. She married her husband, Derric, in 2009 and before settling back in Fort Worth, they made stops in Washington D.C., Dallas, and San Antonio. Isabelle Story arrived in 2014, and Hayley is lucky enough to spend her days at home with her precious girl . . . although they’re rarely actually at home as Isabelle likes to see and be seen. Apart from her family, books are Hayley’s passion. She is an avid reader and her lifelong dream is to write a novel. If she isn’t chasing Isabelle or stuck in a book, you can find her exploring this city she adores, trying new restaurants with Derric, doling out reading recommendations, running at a local park (in bad form), at Kyle Field watching her beloved Aggies, or making irresponsible decisions at a local Half Price Books.

Joanna

Joanna loves doing life in Fort Worth! She has two cutie pie kiddos, Rhett, 5 and Layla, 4. She works full time in marketing and loves to run. Let’s be real . . . she likes to run because she loves donuts! She and her family are in a fight to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis because Layla has the disease. They could not be more in love with their team of doctors, nurses, and dietitians at Cook Childrens. Joanna says she tries to find joy in each day even though life gets absolutely crazy at times with a full-time job, two super fun and active kids, and doing treatments with Layla daily. She can many times be found in her kitchen trying out a new recipe from Cooking Light Magazine or Pioneer Woman.

Jody

Jody hid in the hills of Missouri until her husband, Caleb, rescued her and made her a Mrs . . . at least that’s the story he tells. A mere four years in and they’ve added a brilliant, big-hearted boy, Jude (2010) and an equally endearing, Oliver (2013) to their family. Still pretty amazed at the fact that she grew two tiny humans when she can’t even keep a rubber tree-plant alive, Jody recently stopped traveling with a ministry conference team to stay at home and rough and tumble around with her boys. She loves Jesus, coffee, and big sunglasses, and keeps her inner gypsy alive by traveling whenever she gets the chance.

Jody is a living, breathing paradox: a type A artist, an outgoing introvert, and a liberal conservative. Most days she reminds herself at least 24 times before bed that the noise, chaos, and the mess is all worth it. Motherhood is legacy at its finest.

Graduate school brought Laura from her beloved home state of Colorado to Texas (hard to beat the Rocky Mountains!), and meeting her beloved husband Jonathan convinced her to settle here. Now the two are overjoyed and exhausted parents to sweet Christopher (2015). In addition to her new role as a mama, she also works full time as a clinical psychologist working with military veterans who continue to amaze her with their strength and humor. When she’s not busy juggling career and parenthood, you can find her cycling, enjoying local culture (and food!), baking, “hiking,” and embracing her love of travel.

Rachel loves a good fairytale, so it’s no surprise that, after moving to Fort Worth from Washington, D.C., she kissed a frog and fell in love. She is the mother of two perfect children—Lillian, an adventurous toddler, and Lucas, a handsome cuddle-bug who is speeding through infant-hood too fast. She loves pearls, books, coffee, talking about books over coffee, writing, listening to others’ life stories, and spending time with her family. When she is not busy practicing law or changing diapers, you will find her exploring the amazing culinary and cultural delights that Fort Worth has to offer or blogging at Honeycomb and Pearls.

Robyn met her husband in his homestate of North Carolina, and, as he says, they “comprised” after marriage and settled one hour from her family and six states from his. Still, they love to visit friends and family in Carolina every year with their 8-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son. They have gladly called Fort Worth home for more than a decade where Robyn works as a pastor at a Presbyterian church, particularly focused on mission outreach and family ministry. Reading “grown up” books, having travel adventures, and enjoying thoughtful conversations are what keep her going. Robyn’s current “hobbies” include watching countless children’s home talent shows, exercising early in the morning before the kids wake up, and remembering which extracurricular bag goes in the car each day. Among her many accolades, she proudly holds the title as the world’s worst selfie photographer.
