Break out the pumpkin spice lattes, fall wreaths, candles, and leggings — it’s October, y’all! Check out our “2017 Guide to Fall Activities” for all things pumpkin patch, farm, and festival. If you are looking for things to do outside of the fall theme, we have got you covered. From plays to music, trucks to science, and running to food, we have compiled a list of some of the best things happening in Tarrant County. Keep an eye out for our Trick-or-Treat guide coming out later this month!

Mr. Popper’s Penguins — 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., or 7:00 p.m. on various days // Come to Casa Mañana and view the hilarious tale of Mr. Popper and his unexpected penguin guests. 

October 1 – 28

Ennis Farmers Market — 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. // Come down to Historic Downtown Ennis for farm fresh produce, and home baked sweets and treats! The kids and kids at heart will enjoy Giant Jenga, Jumbo Connect Four, and our special Make-It-at-the-Market craft project.

October 1 – 31

Autumn at the Arboretum — 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. // With a theme of Wizard of Oz for its pumpkin patch, and thousands of beautiful blooming fall flowers, what more could you want?

October 6 – 8

Oktoberfest Southlake — Friday – 5:00 – 11:00 p.m., Saturday – 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., Sunday – 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. // Oktoberfest is a family-friendly, German-themed festival that takes place in the beautiful Southlake Town Square. This event includes a variety of fun such as the famous Wiener Dog Race, German food and drink vendors, Family Fun Zone, Sports Zone, craft vendors, and FREE entertainment all weekend!

October 7

Jazz Under the Stars — 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. // Bruce Mendoza and the The Marcel Ivery Memorial Jazz Group, returns to Ennis for a night of Jazz Under the Stars. Come enjoy a night of music and food in the newly constructed Minnie McDowal Park. It will be an evening to remember.

Fall Festival at Calloway’s Nursery — 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. // Calloway’s Nursery hosts its annual fall festival with arts and crafts, harvest games, mad science interactive demo: Dry Ice Extravaganza, costumed characters, Ron the Balloon Guy, and a pumpkin patch to capture family photos!

October 13

Science On Tap — 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. // This one’s adults only!! Come down to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History for a night of spooky fun. Trivia, drinks, and lots of science, what could be better? Feel free to wear your favorite costume. Oh, and if you register early, you can get a free drink!

October 14

Touch-a-Truck — 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. // Join the Arlington Public Library for the third annual Touch-a-Truck! Held in the parking lot of the First United Methodist Church in downtown Arlington, this free all-ages event features big trucks and other vehicles in the community that your little ones can experience, including fire trucks, ambulances, police cars, garbage trucks, classic cars, and more!

October 18

Wine & Flowers — 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. // Love wine? Love flowers? Join Alice’s Table for a night of sippin’ and flower arranging. Sip back on Kent & Co’s signature wines while learning how to create your very own flower arrangement. At the end of the night, take home your beautiful creation and great memories.

October 21

Ennis Autumn Daze — 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. // Come out to Minnie McDowel Park for live music, great food and craft vendors, corn pit for sensory play, hay maze, trike corral, photo ops, and more small town family fun!

October 25

Trunk-or-Treat — 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. // University Baptist Church is hosting a Trunk-or-Treat in their parking lot. Come dressed in your friendliest costumes! There will be a food truck, lots of candy, games, and fun.

October 28

CASA Superhero Run — 7:00 – 10:30 a.m. // Join CASA of Tarrant county to run a 5K course or one mile fun run to support children suffering child abuse and negligence. Dress up as your favorite super hero, bring your kids and pups, and help raise some money for CASA of Tarrant County. 

October 29

Trunk-or-Treat — 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. // The First United Methodist Church in Hurst wants you to come dressed in your best costume and come out for a fun evening of Trunk-or-Treating!

October 31

Treat Street — 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. // Dress your family in their Halloween best and join Stockyards Station for costume contests, pumpkin decorating, games, hayrides, and trick-or-treating at participating Stockyards Station shops.
