Bella’s Book and Nature Club – First Wednesday of the month at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. Discuss nature, read a story, sing and move, plus enjoy a family nature challenge! For children ages 18 months – five years and their families.


 

Family Story Time at Summerglen – Every Tuesday at Summerglen Library. Join us for stories, songs, and activities in a fun, interactive environment. Intended for children of all ages and their grown-ups.


 

Homeschool Days – Select Mondays, at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. Learning levels: kindergarten – 5th grade.


 

Little Sprouts Book and Garden Club – Third Tuesday of the month at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. Registration is open for September and October. For children ages 18 months – five years and their families.


 

Preschool Story Time – Every Tuesday, 10:30 – 11:15 a.m., at East Regional Library. Stories, songs, and activities to build reading and school readiness skills, social and emotional skills, and community. Preschool Story Time is intended for children three – five years old and their grownups

Kayak Tour at the Fort Worth Nature Center. Have you ever paddled in a kayak? Come try one out and learn about nature while you do. All equipment is provided. Meet at the Canoe Launch. Pre-registration required; admission not included. Ages 14 years and up.

Toddler Take Over at Denton Children’s Museum, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Join the fun at this come-and-go weekly workshop that promotes learning and social interaction through engaging, toddler-friendly activities. Caregiver participation required. Free for members!

First Thursday Sketching Tours at Kimbell Art Museum, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Students must be in grades kindergarten – 8th to participate. Parents and guardians are invited to explore the collection, enjoy free Wi-Fi, and visit our free Studio A play space with younger siblings during the program.

Early Morning Mammal Hike at the Fort Worth Nature Center, 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. Come see the changes in mammals on this early morning hike and learn about the mammals that inhabit the park. Pre-registration required; admission not included. For ages five years and up.

Azle Sting Fling Festival, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This annual, one-day festival, hosted by the Azle Area Chamber of Commerce, is the largest community event held in Azle. It provides affordable, wholesome family entertainment to the citizens of Azle and surrounding communities.

W.A.T.E.R. Festival at River Legacy Nature Center, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Come out and celebrate the wonderful resource of water with a variety of experiences, crafts, and demonstrations during this free festival for the whole family!

Middle School Book Club at Monkey and Dog Books in Fort Worth, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Sixth through eighth graders are welcomed to this week’s book club, which looks at the book, Dead End in Norvelt, by Jack Gantos.

All About Horses at Northwest Library, 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Join us for horse themes videos, crafts, and activities in a fun, interactive environment. Intended for children of all ages and their grownups. A horse from the Fort Worth Police Department will be visiting, too!

Nature Journaling at River Legacy Nature Center, 4:15 – 5:15 p.m. By capturing observations in word and art, each student will have the opportunity to experience a connection with the natural world. This event is for kids nine – 12 years old.

Girls’ Nature Workshop – This popular series of nature-based workshops with the Fort Worth Garden Club is back! These hands-on programs connect girls and their families to the fascinating world of horticulture and floriculture. Learning levels: seven – 12 years old.

Sensory Saturday – 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Sensory Saturday is a free opportunity for families of individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities to explore the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History in a safe, understanding environment.

 Lola’s Rock ‘n Roll Rummage Sale – 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. Join Fort Worth’s longest running outdoor monthly market showcasing some of DFW’s best artists, creators, and vintage collectors!

Family Science and Northwest LibraryLearn about a different science concept each month! This month’s theme is plate tectonics. Each month will test different hypotheses and practice the scientific method! Event time: 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Fort Worth Oktoberfest – Attend this three-day celebration of German culture with the best in Bavarian food and entertainment. Fort Worth Oktoberfest also hosts a 5k and 10k run, 20-mile urban bike ride, and carnival rides and games.

Kid’s Pizza Party at Indulge Fort Worth. In this interactive class, kids will learn how to make pizza dough from scratch and build their own pizza using various toppings. This class is intended for ages seven years and up. Event time: 5:00 p.m.

Preschool Story Time at Southside Church of Christ in Fort Worth. Join Miss Jana for books, crafts, snacks, and coffee (for mom or dad). North entrance, upstairs in the children’s worship room. Event time: 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Archery for Homeschoolers at River Legacy Nature Center. Introduction to an ancient sport. Beginning archers will work with a TPWD/NASP certified archery instructor to learn the basic techniques of an ageless sport and pastime. All equipment provided. Event time: 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.

The Boho Market at Kyde Warren Park – As a major holiday in many parts of Asia, traditionally this gathering is all about family and friends and taking the time to appreciate the moon. Guests will also enjoy live music, local artisans, and more. Event time: 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.

State Fair of Texas – Fair Parks Dallas, September 29 – October 22. The State Fair of Texas is celebrating 137 years! Daily admission tickets are $15 – $20 at the gate or online.
