A fresh year can bring a variety of changes, but one thing you can count on is the Fort Worth Moms Blog giving you the monthly round-up of all the happenings in the DFW area. Peruse all of the goings-on below, and start making memories with your family this new year.

FWMB Workout Try OutThe most exciting happening around here is the FWMB Workout Try Out!!! Are you still looking for your workout fit? Or are you curious to try something else, but don’t think you would want to commit? Well, the Fort Worth Moms Blog has you in mind with the Workout Try Out! In the coming weeks, we will meet at PT Fitness on January 14; PoserKids Yoga on January 19Fit4Mom Fort Worth on January 23; and Pure Barre on January 29. What’s so sweet about these events, other than the fact it provides a way to burn off all of those holiday cookies? Each 1.5 hour session will be full of mamas and mamas only, just like you! AND . . . true to FWMB fashion, there will be some UH – MAZING giveaways. Tickets will be $5-$10, depending on the workout place. There is limited space, so you’ll want to purchase your tickets ASAP. You don’t want to miss this! 

January 1 – 31

Fort Worth Cattle Drive — 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. every day at the Fort Worth Stockyards // Whether you’re a longtime local or new to the Fort Worth area, you must stop by and see the cattle herded down the cobblestone streets of the stockyards.

January 3 – 8

Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition — Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at The Women’s Museum Building at Fair Park // This unique exhibition recreates one of the world’s greatest artistic achievements, Michelangelo’s renowned ceiling frescoes from the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel, reproduced photographically and artfully displayed in their original size and displayed as 34 reproductions on 16-foot panels.

January 13 – 29

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) — varying times at Theatre Arlington // For all of you literature buffs out there, this is a show you don’t want to miss! Three men perform 37 plays in 97 minutes. Enough said.

January 17 – 22

Annie — 7:30 p.m. each night and 1:30 p.m. options on Saturday and Sunday // Everyone’s favorite redhead hits the stage in Fort Worth, singing and dancing and bringing glittering smiles to the faces of kids and parents alike.

Tuesday, January 3

Pictures and Pages — 10:30 – 11:45 a.m. at the Kimbell Art Museum // Story time and picture drawing (for kids ages four to six). Does it get any better than that? The book inspiring this session is Ganesha’s Sweet Tooth.

Saturday, January 7

Kimbell Kids Drop-in Studio: Moving Still Lifes — 1:00 p.m. at the Kimbell Art Museum // Kids and their parents or guardians can learn about and appreciate art together. 

Snore and Explore — 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science // Let your kiddos enjoy a magical night filled with animals from the Dallas Zoo, a photo booth, science experiments, the movie Elf, and much more wintry fun!

Around Cowtown: Family-Friendly Events January 2017Thursday, January 12

Nature Adventures – Snakes — 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the River Legacy Living Science Center // Children ages two years and six months to five years old with a parent/caregiver will participate in a hands-on lesson, classroom activities, story and song time, and go on a guided nature walk (cost is $15).

Saturday, January 21

Itty-Bitty Art: Early Literacy — 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art // Take your little (11 months or younger) to the museum for a language development experience full of music, books, and sign language.

Saturday, January 28

Itty-Bitty Art: Yoga — 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art // You’ll get some exercise, experience some art, and spend some special time with your baby (11 months or younger). What a stellar combination!

Kimbell Kids Drop-in Studio: Moving Still Lifes — 1:00 p.m. at the Kimbell Art Museum // Kids and their parents or guardians can learn about and appreciate art together.
