Disclaimer :: Costco Wholesale partnered with City Moms Blog Network, including the Fort Worth Moms Blog, to sponsor the 2016 Costco Mom Hour.

On November 4, 2016, the Fort Worth Moms Blog (FWMB) and the City Moms Blog Network hosted the second annual Costco Mom Hour at three store locations in Tarrant County: Fort Worth, North Fort Worth, and Southlake. Nearly 1,500 readers — yes, you read that correctly, 1,500 — gathered to shop, enjoy breakfast, cash in on membership deals, enter giveaways, and fill up on samples galore! The national event as a whole registered 47,000 people at nearly 100 warehouses. So, yeah, it was kind of a big deal.

Costco Mom Hour greyCostco Mom Hour is an opportunity for FWMB readers and their kids to take over Costco one hour before the store opens to the public. You can get a good start on your holiday shopping, scope out seasonal offerings, and/or just stock up on your essential, go-to Costco finds. But the perks of Costco Mom Hour do not end there!

We already mentioned the SWAG, but it deserves another nod. This year’s bags — handed out to the first 100 women in line — were jam packed with Costco product, even full-size goodies. Three hundred lucky ladies scored swag bags stuffed with Costco product!

Costco served a hearty continental-type breakfast to all attendees. While items varied by store, most carried breakfast beverages, pastries galore, granola bars, fruit, etc. Attendees could stop and fill up before hitting the aisles or find their way to the table after their carts were full.

At each location, attendees “competed” in a scavenger hunt (so fun for the kids!) for entries into the Costco Mom Hour giveaways. Six readers won a $100 gift card each, and three readers won Tide Pods.

After you got your fill of breakfast, you could totally cart your kids around Costco for lunch because there were SO MANY SAMPLES. These samples focused on family-friendly items, really highlighting how Costco can ease the “what’s for dinner” burden — and give you some good choices for the lunch box.

Costco Mom Hour breakfastPerhaps, the biggest news maker was the membership deals Costco offered our readers! In fact, this was the BEST Costco membership deal you’ll see! The bargain consisted of:

  • $20 cash card for new member Gold Star signups
  • $43 worth of coupons (free pizza, $3 off any fresh berry item, $5 off Costco photo book, and $25 off on Costco.com)
  • $20 cash card offered — in addition to the other $20 Gold Star new signup — for new Executive upgrade at membership counter (not applicable online).
  • Existing members, who referred a friend to become a new Costco member the day of the Costco Mom Hour at the membership counter, received a $10 cash card.

Oh, and if you signed up for the new membership but were unable to attend the Costco Mom Hour, you can still redeem that membership at any location until the end of the year.

Thanks again, dear friends, for another great FWMB event! We are working hard and thinking through how we can make the next Costco Mom Hour even more of a smooth success. Please let us know your suggestions — things you loved and things you wish were different! We want to know!
