NonProfit-Profile-imageThe Boys & Girls Clubs of Arlington’s five branches and 12 school sites provide programs and outreach services to more than 5,000 youth in the Arlington and Mansfield areas each year. Since 1959, the organization has been at the forefront of youth development, with the mission of enabling all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

The majority of the children who walk through the doors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Arlington come from single-parent, low-income households; the Clubs make a significant difference in the lives of thousands of boys and girls who many not otherwise have access to the support that they need to succeed.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Arlington is recognized as the most efficient and effective youth development organization in its ability to reach out to those in the greatest need with the highest level of quality service. The nonprofit organization offers daily access to a broad range of programs in five core areas: character and leadership development; education and career development; health and life skills; the arts; and sports, fitness, and recreation. Services are convenient, affordable, and meet the needs of the family and youth.

The nonprofit organization is part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a nationwide movement of community-based, autonomous organizations, that had its beginnings in 1860. Believing that boys who roamed the streets should have a positive alternative, three women in Hartford, Connecticut – Mary Goodwin, Alice Goodwin, and Elizabeth Hammersley – organized the first Club. A cause was born. Closer to home, in 1959, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Arlington was formed to serve the community. Since then, the Club has been an integral part of the community and remains at the forefront of youth development, in addition to working with young people from disadvantaged economic, social, and family circumstances.

Fundraising

For the past 56 years, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Arlington have hosted the Party for a Purpose Gala, which has provided much-needed funding for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Arlington’s annual programs that nurture and enrich the lives of children in the Tarrant County community. By touching the lives of more than 5,000 children from the Arlington and Mansfield area every year, programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Arlington help produce confident, educated, and responsible members of society. In return, the entire community benefits.

Party for a Purpose is one of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Arlington’s largest fundraising events, and provides support the organization’s annual programs. The majority of youth within the Clubs come from low income and/or single parent homes, and therefore many of their families cannot afford to pay the cost of Club membership. For some children, the Club is the only alternative to being at home with no adult supervision or on the streets. The Clubs provide a safe environment for these young people to learn and grow – all while having fun. Funding from this annual event helps bridge the gap between the amount that families can afford and the cost to provide these programs and services.
