I Am a Fort Worth Mama: Robyn Humphreys

0

FullSizeRenderMeet Robyn Humphreys, an extraordinary mama to two wonderful teenagers, ages 17 and 14. Robyn began her career as the regional director for Calvin Klein Fragrances, but after her second child was born, she made the tough decision to become a stay-at-home mom. She has served in many roles at the Fort Worth Presbyterian Church, including women’s leadership committee chair and has worked closely with the Covenant Classical School, serving on the development committee and the auction committee, as well as producing two of the school’s musicals, Fiddler on the Roof and The Sound of Music.

Robyn has always had a love for beautiful paper, and seven years ago, she began designing, as well as coordinating, weddings and events. In 2011, she teamed up with another fellow wedding and event coordinator and they founded Petal Printing, an online company that offers customized, personalized gifts, as well as event planning.

Robyn spends most of her time shuffling kids from baseball, football, music, and art when she is not working, but her other hobbies include reading — especially mysteries — remodeling and staging homes, and refinishing furniture or anything that involves painting.

Robyn graciously agreed to answer our fab five.

If we peeked in your purse right now, what would we find?

My most sacred possession, my planner; a small wallet; my favorite shade of long wearing lipstick; and Advil. I really like to keep it light.

Why do you call Cowtown home?

Cowtown has been home for more than 15 years now. I call it home because this is where I choose to live and raise my family. My children know no other home. I am glad they have grown up in a friendly, warm community that matches no other.

What’s been the greatest joy of motherhood?

Seeing my kids grow up with a sense of faith, watching them try to love others, and showing kindness in the small things of everyday life. Also, getting to see them become the people I prayed they would be and fighting through the challenges of life together.

What’s been the greatest challenge of motherhood?

Working through the hard things in life and teaching my children that life isn’t always fair and things don’t always go your way, that we need to see the bigger picture and that we all have something to give and receive.

How do you hope your life influences and/or inspires other women?

I think all mothers should remember to enjoy doing a variety of things. If you don’t think you can do it, find a way. Always ask questions and be willing to admit your faults. Love your families and friends un-selfishly. You don’t have to have IT ALL to be happy. Motherhood is a blessing . . . don’t waste it. They grow up before you know it.
