Food truck parks are all the rage these days! We all know how challenging picking a lunch or dinner spot can be. Someone always asks the illusive question “what are you in the mood for?”, which in our house, always sends us on a 20-minute merry-go-round of opinions. Add picky kiddos into the equation and you’ve set yourself up for a night of indecision leading to everyone just having cereal.
Well food truck parks are a great solution to your mealtime dilemmas, and luckily Fort Worth has several options for your family to enjoy!
Fort Worth’s very first food truck park, located behind the Target shopping complex near Montgomery Ward Plaza and West 7th Street. Open Thurs-Sun, the food park features outdoor games and live music. Pets are welcome, and they even have wireless available. Click here for a calendar of the daily lineup of vendors.
Cowtown Chow Down – PERMANENTLY CLOSED AS OF WINTER 2013
Located off Main St. just minutes from downtown, Fort Worth’s newest food truck park is open daily Wed-Sun (11-2), lunch and dinner on Fridays, and all day Saturday and Sunday. Looking for a fun spot to watch the game while the kiddos play? Cowtown Chow Down has Direct TV! Head on out for University Saturdays, boasting TCU and college football games. Wear your team’s colors and get a free snoball from the Snoball Corral. Come back for Sunday Funday where you can watch your favorite NFL games.
Located at the Historic Thistle Hill Estate, this food park opened it’s ‘doors’ in May 2013, providing a great lunch spot to medical professionals, business owners, and mamas in its vicinity. With its large enclosed lawn and games like badminton and croquet, this is a great spot to meet up with friends for a play date! Open weekdays from 11-2.
My family’s personal favorite, located on the Trinity Trail off University Drive. This dog-friendly park boasts live music, and a bar run by Fred’s Cafe. Click here for a daily food truck schedule. Open Wednesday-Sundays beginning at 11 am until 9pm (W), 10pm (Th-Sat), and 8pm (Sun).
In addition to the food truck parks, Arlington is home to Texas Food Truckin’ Fest, a two day event coming this fall {October 25 & 26} to Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. This Friday/Saturday event will host a variety of food trucks, live music, and kids’ activities. Visit their website for more information on ticket prices, food trucks, and bands.
Trying to locate your favorite food truck? Urbanspoon keeps a record of most of the area food truck parks, local reviews, and website information (if applicable). And if you are a big fan of one truck, “Like” their Facebook page which is usually the best resource to see where they are for the day.
Wondering which trucks have kid-friendly food? The Fort Worth Moms Blog team weighed in on the topic:
